Creating Your First Program

A breeding program is your main workspace. Animals, matings, litters, and events all live inside a program.

Create a program

  1. Go to Programs in the sidebar.
  2. Click New Program.
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Name (required)
    • Description (optional)
    • Species (optional) — sets the default species for new animals added to this program
    • Breed (optional) — free-text field for your breed or variety (e.g. Maine Coon, Labrador Retriever, Standard Poodle)
  4. Upload a logo (optional).
  5. Click Create.

You can have multiple programs if you breed more than one line or species.

Add animals

When this is your only program, every animal you add from the Animals page goes into it automatically. With several programs, the Add Animal form asks which one.

If you added animals before creating the program, open it: the Animals tab says how many aren't in a program yet. Click Add my animals to this program, untick any you want to leave out, and click Add. You can also click Add animals on the program's Animals tab to pick them one at a time.

Program settings

From the program's Advanced tab you can:

  • Rename the program and update its description or logo
  • Set the program's Breed (each program can carry its own breed)
  • Set the Gestation Days used for expected due date calculations (default: 63)
  • Set the Weight Unit for individual animal weight entries
  • Set the Litter Weight Unit for group litter weight entries
  • Define Custom Fields that appear on all animals enrolled in the program
  • Manage the list of enrolled animals
  • Generate a shareable calendar feed (Pro and Max plans)
  • Delete the program
