Client Portal

The Client Portal lets your buyers and waitlist contacts sign in to BreederPro and see what you choose to share with them. They don't get access to your breeding programs or your other records.

The Client Portal is available on Basic, Pro and Max. See Plans and billing.

What a client can see

When a client signs in, they see the breeders who have invited them. For each breeder they can see:

  • Animals: the animals linked to their contact record
  • Contracts: the contracts you have sent them (drafts you haven't sent never appear). A contract that is waiting for their signature opens the signing page when they click it.
  • Invoices: the invoices you have sent them (drafts never appear). A sent, overdue or paid invoice opens the invoice page (where they can pay, if you take card payments).
  • Waitlists: their own waitlist entries that are still waiting or offered, with the status and deposit. Their place in the queue is shown only if you turn on Show waitlist position (see below).

A client doesn't see your other contacts, your other animals, your expenses, or any other breeder's information.

Showing waitlist positions

By default, a client sees that they are on your waitlist but not their number in the queue. To show it:

  1. Open the program, then the Advanced tab.
  2. In Client portal, turn on Show waitlist position.

The setting is per program and saves as soon as you switch it. Positions are always 1, 2, 3 and so on: when someone is placed or removed, everyone behind them moves up.

Inviting a client

Invites start from the contact, so the contact needs an email address first.

  1. Open the contact from Business, then Contacts.
  2. Click Invite to Portal. A dialog shows the contact's name and email; click Send to confirm. BreederPro emails an invite link to that address, and the dialog shows the link with Copy link in case you want to send it yourself.
  3. The contact shows Portal invite pending until they accept. While it's pending you can use Copy invite link again.

If the invite went to the wrong address, or you change your mind, click Revoke while the invite is pending and confirm.

You can send one invite per contact every 24 hours, and a revoked invite still counts. After revoking, the contact page says when you can send a new invite.

When the client accepts, the contact shows Portal linked.

Accepting an invite

The client opens the invite link and clicks Sign in to Accept. If they don't have a BreederPro account, signing in creates one automatically. They then accept the invite.

An invite that has already been accepted or revoked can't be used again. The link shows a message saying so.

  • Waitlist is where waitlist entries are managed.
  • Contracts are what clients see on the Contracts tab.
